Shushanovka residents complain about losses due to quarantine

The COVID-19 tests of the participants in the funeral of a woman from the Dagestani village of Shushanovka, who died from coronavirus, turned out to be negative; however, 30 villagers are sick with pneumonia here, the village head has informed. Many villagers live only on incomes from their agriculture and cannot sell their crops because of the quarantine, he has explained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 25, in the village of Shushanovka, Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, the funeral took place of a local woman, who died of coronavirus.

After the funeral, about 30 Shushanovka villagers fell ill with pneumonia; four are undergoing their treatment at hospital, Djabrail Alilmagomedov, the head of the administration of Shushanovka, said on May 27.

"The funeral participants have passed tests; and not a single one was positive," Mr Alilmagomedov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

At the same time, according to the village head, villagers have faced a serious problem. "Many villagers have lost their jobs. They have harvested strawberries, cherries will follow soon, but they don't know how and where to sell the crops. For many this is the only income, and, if no solution is found, then Shushanovka villagers will find themselves in a very difficult situation," Mr Alilmagomedov has concluded.
