Inauguration of NKR President passes amid protests

During the inauguration of Araik Arutyunyan, the new President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), 19 oppositionists held a rally in Shushi expressing disagreement with the election outcomes.

The NKR parliamentary and presidential elections were held on March 31, while the second round of presidential one – on April 14. Araik Arutyunyan, the former Prime Minister, won the majority of votes at the presidential election.

Observers and members of NKR oppositional parties reported violations during the vote.

Tigran Petrosyan, the chairman of the oppositional "Tomorrow's Artsakh" Party, has treated the flash mob as an action of opponents of the criminal oligarchic regime.

Let us remind you that on April 12, the emergency situation regime was introduced in the NKR in connection with coronavirus. The opposition called on citizens to boycott the elections. However, the voting took place even in isolated communities.
