Hideout with weapons and explosives found in Sukhumi

In a multi-storey apartment block in Kartoziya Street in the New District of Sukhumi, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Abkhazia and the state security service found a large hideout with weapons and ammunition.

The apartment contained hand grenades and fuses, machine guns and machine gun boxes with bands, explosives and explosive elements, hand grenade launchers, several thousand rounds of various calibres and models, the Abkhazian MIA's press service has reported.

Operative agents have also seized pistols, several dozen submachine guns, unloading vests with ammunition, and devices for shooting without noise and flame, says the report posted on May 11 on the website of the Abkhazian MIA.

The seized weapons were sent for examination; forensic experts should evaluate the suitability thereof for combat usage.
