Residents of Chechnya note chaotic nature of help distribution by Kadyrov Foundation

The Chechen authorities have reported on the distribution of monetary help to poor families organized by the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation. However, the residents of the republic interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have claimed that the recipients of the targeted help are often not those who really need it.

On May 8, a total of 1000 poor families in Chechnya received the monetary help of 10,000 roubles each from the authorities. The report about this was shown on May 8 in the news programme of the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company). The four-minute-long story told about the next large-scale action organized by the regional public foundation named after Akhmat Kadyrov. Money was distributed in Grozny and other dwelling settlements of the republic.

The residents of Chechnya interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent have expressed doubt about the extent of the provided help.

"If you watch our local television, you'll see that the Kadyrov Foundation is giving out tons of foodstuffs to the needy and poor every day; it also gives money. But people have no much trust in these reports, because they know in localities who, what, when, and how receives it. Yes, there is help, but its recipients are not always really those who need it. This can be seen even in those stories that are shown to us on TV, when they show a solid house with all the modern amenities and recipients of food assistance," Umar, a local resident, believes.

"In reality, not all really needy and poor receive help," Fatima, a local woman, is sure.
