Instagram users criticize Chechen quarantine enforcement methods

The police should not detain minors during raids, Instagram users note in their comments under videos about the enforcement of the quarantine measures in Chechnya. Local residents criticized tough control of those who went out and opposed posts containing videos with violators.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 29, Ramzan Kadyrov instructed his subordinates to strengthen the control over the movement of people.

Starting from April 13, residents of Chechnya are forbidden to leave their homes without special permits. By April 27, the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya claimed 42 violators of the self-isolation regime, who were facing serious fines.

One of the videos posted on Instagram shows the law enforcers' raids in the city. Children scatter and hide in entrances to the houses when police patrol cars appear. The law enforcers detain and line up several young people, including a minor. Some of the law enforcers in the video are equipped with body armours, helmets, and submachine guns.

In their comments, many Instagram users expressed their indignation about the fact that a teenager was among the detainees.

Earlier, Ramzan Kadyrov has voiced his dissatisfaction with the posts of videos from Chechnya in social networks, in which law enforcers were chasing residents of the republic or detaining alleged quarantine violators. The leader of Chechnya demanded to identify authors of those videos and send them to work as cleaners.
