Russia's statement on Karabakh settlement treated negatively by Armenia

Sergey Lavrov, the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has announced the stages of the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, mentioning the liberation of the areas around the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR). Armenia will never resort to unilateral concessions, Zograb Mnatsakanyan, the head of the Armenian MFA, has stated, in his turn.

According to Minister Mnatsakanyan, a peaceful settlement is possible only based on mutual concessions.

Taron Oganesyan, an expert at the "Orbeli" Analytical Centre, has noted that "Yerevan and Stepanakert had repeatedly stated that such an approach is unacceptable for them." According to his version, the threat to the civilian population of the NKR and Armenia persists, "and without the solution thereof, it is impossible to talk about conflict settlement.

According to Naira Airumyan, a political observer, "no one has handed in anything and is not going to do it."
