Conviction of Djikaeva for contempt of Islam triggers disputes on Instagram

The gloating over the criminal prosecution in Chechnya of the Ossetian blogger Malika Djikaeva is unworthy of Muslims, Instagram users have pointed out. They wished Djikaeva to repent that she had acted in provocative videos wearing hijab.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Malika Djikaeva, a blogger from North Ossetia, was detained in Grozny on March 9. On March 18, a court in Grozny arrested her for two months under a drug possession case. Her relatives are sure that the drugs were planted on her in order to punish her for the shocking videos in the hijab.

Some Instagram users have criticized Djikaeva for disrespect for Islam. "Those who help her, are finished people, who do not respect themselves and their religion – let them imprison her for the rest of her days," wrote the user gasangadjiev_.

However, many objected saying that such statements were indecent to Muslims.

Some commentators have emphasized that they did not like Djikaeva's video clips, but they did not wish her any harm.

Authors of negative comments pointed to the responsibility of Djikaeva's mother for her daughter's behaviour.

In June 2019, a Chechen court fined Djikaeva for her video of firing a submachine gun dressed in a policeman's uniform. Her sister Karina claims that after that resonant video, law enforcers tortured Malika.
