After being summoned to police, Azerbaijani journalist removes his critical post

Tezekhan Miralamli, an employee of the "Azadlyg" newspaper, was summoned to the police in connection with his critical post placed in social networks about law enforcers' work during the quarantine regime. The police released the journalist after taking his explanatory note and a promise to remove the post.

"Yesterday (on April 3) in the evening I published a post on the Facebook about the actions of law enforcement bodies under the quarantine regime. I wrote that policemen were fining citizens for the absence of medical masks. I wrote this after I saw that people were fined near the 'Azi Aslanov' metro station. But, frankly speaking, I saw it from distance and could not clarify the details. I even wanted to delete this post in the evening, as I was not completely sure of the authenticity of what was written. But, after pro-government trolls attacked me, I decided not to delete the post," Miralamli told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, on April 4, he was summoned to the Chief Police Department of Baku.

"They spoke politely and told me that policemen were fining people not for absence of masks, but for violating the quarantine regime. They took an explanatory note from me. I wrote that I had no malicious intent; then, I deleted the post; and then, I was released," Miralamli said.
