Law enforcers reproach resident of Chechnya for disseminating fake news

In Chechnya, there will be no leniency towards people who disseminate gossips, declares the OVD (Interior Division) for the Kurchaloi District. A top-ranking law enforcer reproached a local resident for reporting flour prices.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chechen authorities declared the prevention of coronavirus-related panic more relevant than the fight against the infection itself. Meanwhile, residents of Chechnya said they did not trust the authorities' assurances that the republic was ready to resist the epidemic.

After the measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection had been announced, a stir occurred in Chechnya, and residents of the republic began to massively buy food products. The increased demand led to the growth of prices.

A video posted on Instagram depicts the chief of the OVD for the Kurchaloi District of Chechnya of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) stating that "gossip dissemination is not allowed in the republic."

"If now everyone is allowed to say whatever he or she likes, a war can begin. People who disseminate gossips are to be brought to responsibility," the chief of the MIA's OVD for the Kurchaloi District stated.

Ramzan Kadyrov said that people who disseminated fake news about the coronavirus infection should be punished with community service. Since early February, three residents of the republic have publicly apologized for fake reports.

Followers of the Instagram public account supported the actions of the police. Furthermore, some social network users noted the politeness of the law enforcer.
