Kurbanov brothers sentenced to long terms of imprisonment

The Southern District Military Court found Ismail and Mukhtar Kurbanov brothers, residents of the Kayakent District of Dagestan, guilty of involvement in the ranks of Syrian militants and sentenced them to 15 and 17 years of imprisonment, respectively.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that public prosecutors believes Mukhtar and Ismail Kurbanov were members of the "Makhachkala" grouping of militants and fought on the side of the IS (ISIL, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") in Syria in 2014-2016. The brothers are also accused of storing ammunition and grenades.

Today, the Southern District Military Court has found Ismail and Mukhtar Kurbanov guilty under all charges and sentenced them to 15 and 17 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony, respectively, with a fine of 200,000 roubles, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from the courtroom. The Kurbanov brothers met the sentence calmly.
