One month later, search for Dagestanis who disappeared in Chechnya is still fruitless

The whereabouts of the three residents of Derbent who disappeared in Grozny on February 10 is still unknown, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan has informed. The mother of one of the missing persons has complained that law enforcement bodies fail to inform relatives about the course of the search.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 9, the 30-year-old Nillan Aliev, the 35-year-old Seidaidin Mustafaev and the 62-year-old Khakim Askerov went from Derbent to relax in Grozny and stopped answering phone calls on the following day. On February 23 and 25, Nargiz Kazimova, Nillan Aliev's mother, held pickets in Derbent, asking the head of Chechnya to help in finding her son.

The "Baza" Telegram channel has reported, citing relatives of the missing people, that one of them had criticized the authorities of Chechnya; and shortly before their disappearance, they posted a video in social networks depicting them smoking at the background of the "Heart of Chechnya" Mosque. A fragment of the video message by Seidaidin Mustafaev addressed to Ramzan Kadyrov was posted by the "Dosh" magazine. Insults addressed to Kadyrov could cause trouble to Seidaidin and his companions, analysts have suggested.

Ms Kazimova said that she stopped holding pickets, but hopes that the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, will help in finding her son.
