Advocates attract public attention to Khamukovs' case

Magomed Abubakarov and Ramzan Uzuev have urged as many people as possible to write letters to the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) and the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation ICRF) asking them to stop the criminal prosecution of residents of Baksan, Asker and Lianna Khamukov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Asker Khamukov, the founder of the "One Case" Charity Foundation, was detained on October 7, 2019, in Baksan together with his pregnant sister Lianna, who gave birth to a baby the day after the detention. They are accused of financing terrorism.

On February 28, Magomed Abubakarov and Ramzan Uzuev, the Khamukovs' advocates, announced the launch of the "One Case" project. "We'll use this platform to publicize cases of lawlessness related to the criminal prosecution of our citizens," Magomed Abubakarov said in a video posted on the "One Case" YouTube channel.

Then, in the posted video, the advocates listed the essence of investigators' claims against the Khamukovs. "Neither brother nor sister have pled guilty to the indictment. For almost six months they did not carry out a single investigative action," Magomed Abubakarov said in the video.

The advocates have invited all the concerned citizens to write at least brief letters to the heads of the GPO and ICRF demanding to stop the unjustified criminal prosecution of the Khamukov brother and sister.
