Singer from Nalchik suffers from harassment after sex change

Shamil Malkanduev, a singer, having become a transgender, has disgraced his kin, commentators on the Instagram public "Nalchik" believe. Other debaters treat his decision as his private matter, and urged not to condemn him.

Shamil Malkanduev, a pop singer from Kabardino-Balkaria, who had earlier performed under the pseudonym of Oscar, has announced a gender change.

He treats himself to be the first transgender singer in Russia, although he lives in the United States, and asks now to name him as Scarlett, the "Region Online" reported on February 21.

The singer's fans reacted differently to the fact. "It's all the same for me – Oscar, Shamil or Scarlett ... I'll listen to the songs as I listened before," the user romanchenko_1978 wrote in the Scarlett's page on the Instagram.

The post in the Instagram public "ChP. Nalchik" about Malkanduev's gender change was accompanied by plenty of negative comments. "Society is slowly going crazy," wrote the user amirzherukov. "His parents once rejoiced that a son, an heir, was born. It's a pity that he has disgraced his all clan," said the user teunovarita.

However, some users urged not to condemn Malkanduev. "There's so much anger in people – they are ready to lynch and kill the weak!" the user liuba.shogenova is outraged by the persecution of the singer. "It's her body – it's her matter. She has every right to dispose it at her discretion, why should we condemn her and pour mud on her?" the user marsala2.0 has supported Scarlett.
