Azerbaijani singer Yusif Eyvazov accused of inciting hostility

Armenian and German opera artists reproached Azerbaijani tenor Yusif Eyvazov for refusing to sing on the same stage with singer Ruzan Mantashyan at a festival in Dresden. Yusif Eyvazov called the above accusations a provocation, while festival organizers denied the information about his refusal to sing on the same stage with Ruzan Mantashyan.

On February 7, at the SemperOpernball festival, Yusif Eyvazov was supposed to sing on the same stage with Armenian singer Ruzan Mantashyan, but he referred to "political motives" and insisted on the cancellation of the Armenian singer's performance, the "Sputnik-Armenia" reports.

Meanwhile, the festival organizers reported on Facebook that Yusif Eyvazov did not make such statements and that no performance of Ruzan Mantashyan was ever planned.

Narine Abgaryan, a member of the board of trustees of the "Creation" charity foundation, wrote on Facebook that the organizers of the Dresden SemperOpernball festival just wanted to hush up the scandal, but "they failed." Narine Abgaryan quoted an appeal of German singer Rene Pape, "who urged Yusif Eyvazov to remain an artist and not to incite hostility."

Meanwhile, Yusif Eyvazov himself wrote on Instagram that his "political views never affected his profession and his colleagues on the stage."
