ICRF insists on robbery version in case on journalists' murder in CAR

According to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), robbery was a motive for the attack on journalist Orkhan Djemal, cameraman Kirill Radchenko, and director Alexander Rastorguev in the Central African Republic (CAR). The ICRF does not consider a version on the planned murder, which the "Dossier" Centre insists on.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 30, 2018, journalist Orkhan Djemal, cameraman Kirill Radchenko, and Rostov director Alexander Rastorguev were killed in the Central African Republic while they were filming a documentary about the activities of the private military company known as "Wagner's PMC". The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) called robbery the main version of the attack on the journalists, but experts criticized the version. In the Central African Republic, Orkhan Djemal and his colleagues were watched by local law enforcers and people associated with the "Wagner's PMC", the "Dossier" Centre reports.

Orkhan Djemal, a co-founder of the Muslim Union of Journalists of Russia, commented on a number of topics for the "Caucasian Knot", including the materials about the disappearance of singer Zelimkhan Bakaev in Chechnya and about the conflict between Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov and the Muftiate.

Investigators and criminologists visited the Central African Republic, questioned a driver, and examined the personal belongings of the killed journalists, the "Kommersant" reports today with reference to Igor Krasnov, Deputy Chairman of the ICRF. The circumstances of the attack indicate that the journalists were attacked with the motive of robbery by residents of the Central African Republic or neighbouring countries, "regularly involved in serious crimes in the region," Igor Krasnov reported.
