Ingushetia holds contest of drawings in support of political prisoners

Children and grandchildren of Ingush political prisoners sent dozens of drawings to the contest organized by the "Neotlozhka" (Urgent Help) public group in support of arrested participants of a rally in Magas. The authors of the drawings expressed their protest against injustice and the desire to see their relatives at large, noted relatives and friends of the contest participants and Marina Ken, a jury member.

On March 26, residents of Ingushetia continued their rally in Magas, which resulted in clashes between protestors and law enforcers. According to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", at least 96 activists were persecuted after the rally.

The contest of drawings will end on January 10, reports Boris Kodzoev, the head of the "Neotlozhka" public group in support of Ingush political prisoners.

As at January 8, participants sent 32 drawings to the contest, and all of the works were posted on the pages of the "Neotlozhka" project on Facebook and Instagram. The youngest participant of the drawing contest is seven years old, while the oldest is 13. Many drawings bear inscriptions reading: "Freedom for political prisoners in Ingushetia", "Free my grandfather", and "Free patriots of Ingushetia".

According to Boris Kodzoev, the drawings reflect the pain of the detained activists' relatives.

Four grandchildren of Akhmed Barakhoev, one of the protest leaders kept in custody, sent their drawings to the contest, said Leyla Barakhoeva, a sister of Akhmed Barakhoev. According to the woman, the situation is very painful for the children.
