Rights defenders demand to publicize video of road accident with Gyulyalyev

The video of the traffic accident, in which Ogtai Gyulyalyev was injured should be shown to the public, human rights defenders have stated in response to investigators' findings that the accident was not deliberate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 29, 2019, after the press conference, at which he talked about the plan of a campaign against torture, Ogtai Gyulyalyev was hit by a car driver on a pedestrian crossing. He fell into coma and was transported to an Istanbul clinic.

Ogtai's colleagues doubt the objectivity of the investigation, indicating that investigators have hurried to claim that the accident was unintentional. The colleagues noted that Gyulyalyev had received threats that he would be hit by a car.

Namizad Safarov, the coordinator of the Committee against Repression and Torture, has noted that the public should be shown the video record of the accident.

There is positive dynamics in Ogtai's health condition, his wife, Firuza Gyulyalyeva, has stated. She has noted that so far there are no problems with financing her husband's treatment, as the Geidar Aliev Fund continues rendering financial help.

Earlier, the driver said that he had committed the accident unintentionally.
