Advocate reports his client's health complaints after torture in Makhachkala

A Makhachkala court has extended for a month the arrest of Djabrail Ibnukhazharov, accused of helping militants and storing weapons. Ibnukhazharov complains of pains after torture, but medical examination has not yet been conducted, his advocate has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 30, a court in Makhachkala ruled to arrest for a month Djabrail Ibnukhazharov, a local resident, who was detained with the driver, Magomedgadji Magomedov, on charges of possessing weapons. During interrogation, Ibnukhazharov stated that he had been tortured with electric current. His relatives and advocate are sure that weapons were planted on him.

On November 29, relatives of Ibnukhazharov and Magomedov gathered outside the building of the Dagestani Prosecutor's office and stated that during a search, law enforcers had planted weapons on Ibnukhazharov and Magomedov and tortured them.

According to Ibnukhazharov's advocate, in the conditions of the SIZO (pre-trial prison) his client cannot receive the due medical care.

Ibnukhazharov himself and his relatives believe that his prosecution has to do with his business. His female relative said that earlier Djabrail was the owner of a stone quarry, but later he quitted managing the business.

In its turn, the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has stated that Djabrail Ibnukhazharov and Magomedgadji Magomedov "had been militants' helpers, in particular, of the grouping commanded by Aselderov," who was killed in 2016. According to the police, during a search of Ibnukhazharov's house, they found "an arsenal of weapons and ammunition."
