"Hromadske": son of disgraced Chechen suspected of attempting Deputy in Kyiv

Ukrainian law enforcers put a son of a former Chechen presidential candidate on the wanted list in connection with the attempt on a Deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council. Abuev presented himself as "a participant in the anti-Russian resistance in the Caucasus" and suggested a fighter of the "Azov" battalion to apologize to Kadyrov, the "Hromadske" TV Channel has found out.

Law enforcement bodies of Ukraine have called the 25-year-old native of Russia the organizer of the assassination attempt committed on December 1 on Vyacheslav Sobolev, a Deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council. According to a source from the Prosecutor's Office, he is Yusup Abuev, a son of Umar Abuev, a former presidential candidate in Chechnya.

Yusup Abuev had lived in Ukraine for at least 5 years, but in November 2019, he left for Russia and was put on the wanted list by Ukrainian authorities. In 2014 and 2016, Abuev Junior figured in Ukraine in several litigations related to traffic accidents, the "Hromadske" wrote in the material entitled "What is known about the Russian Abuev – the alleged organizer of the attempt on Vyacheslav Sobolev, a Deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council".

Together with Yusup Abuev, two participants of the warfare in Eastern Ukraine are figurants in the attempt case on Mr Sobolev. Their colleague has confirmed that Abuev had visited the conflict area and talked with the suspects.

Igor Mosiychuk, an MP of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of the 8th convocation and a former representative of the "Azov" regiment, met Abuev at "patriotic actions in Kyiv." According to Mosiychuk, Yusup was introduced to him "as a participant of the anti-Russian resistance in the Caucasus," and later he learned that Abuev had quarrelled with his friends "from the patriotic environment." "Through the messenger, he (Abuev) and his friends suggested to me to apologize to Ramzan Kadyrov for money," Igor Mosiychuk has concluded.
