Relatives tell about detention of Grozny resident for video filming at Kadyrov's residence

Islam Nukhanov was detained and accused, after beating up, of storing rounds of ammunition after trying to make public the luxurious living conditions of Chechen officials, the "Novaya Gazeta" has reported.

According to his relatives, Nukhanov grew up outside Chechnya and "couldn't get accustomed to local realities." He regularly watched the posts by the blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, and on October 31, he posted a video clip on the YouTube entitled "How Kadyrov and his associates live".

On the following day, Nukhanov was detained. Law enforcers told his father that his son was "a bad man" and "would go to jail for 10 years" for "sending video and money to terrorist Tumso."

"Islam was beaten up ... his clothes were stained with blood and torn almost to shreds," the "Novaya Gazeta" writes.

As a rule, Chechen residents are not trying to help their detained relatives, says the author of the article. "They keep silent and don't complain anywhere ... Such passive behaviour is based on fear for their lives," the article says.
