Shamil Khadulaev attacked in Dagestan

Today, several persons have attacked Shamil Khadulaev, the head of the Dagestani Coordinating Council of NGOs, sources report. Shamil Khadulaev himself has confirmed the incident.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Shamil Khadulaev worked in two compositions of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan. However, he was not included in the new composition of the Dagestani POC. Shamil Khadulaev himself believes he was not allowed to continue his work at the POC because of his ongoing human rights activities.

Today, Shamil Khadulaev has been attacked in the square in front of the Government House in Dagestan. There were three or four attackers. Shamil Khadulaev refused the help of doctors and hospitalization and attended a scheduled meeting of the public activists at the House of Trade Unions, the RIA "Derbent" reports with reference to its source.

In his turn, blogger Rasul Asad reported that Shamil Khadulaev had been beaten. "Right at the entrance to the White House in Makhachkala, unidentified persons beat Shamil Khadulaev, the head of the Dagestani Coordinating Council of NGOs," the blogger wrote in his "Ask Rasul" Telegram channel.

Shamil Khadulaev himself confirmed the incident, but said the information about his beating was rumours. "The incident took place, but the rumours about my beating are too exaggerated. I am alive and well, and I wish everyone the same!" Shamil Khadulaev wrote in his Telegram channel.
