In Dagestan, protesting villagers clash with law enforcers

Today, a resident of the Dagestani village of Meusisha has been injured in a clash with law enforcers. A video has been posted on the Internet in which law enforcers push protesters back.

The villagers are protesting against the construction of a water supply system. On October 30, law enforcers arrived at the place where the villagers gathered. Today, they have used rubber batons. According to the local residents, one person was hospitalized.

A project for the water supply to the village of Urkarakh from a Meusisha water source provoked protests of the villagers back in early October. On October 6, the villagers held a gathering, on which they noted the project had not been coordinated with the local residents. The people worry that the construction may harm their pastures and they will not be able to graze cattle in that place anymore.
