Armenia announces aggravation of situation on border with Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani troops shelled villages and military positions in the Tavush District, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia reported. The Armenian side regarded the shelling attack as a provocation related to a meeting of the Council of CIS Defence Ministers in Baku.

The shelling attacks took place last night and morning, and the Azerbaijani side used small arms, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Artsrun Ovannisyan, the press secretary for the Armenian MoD. According to him, the shelling attack was suppressed by return fire, there were no casualties.

Today, the meeting of the Council of Defence Ministers of the CIS countries has been held in Baku. "At the meeting, the concept of the military cooperation of the CIS states until 2025 was considered," the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan reports on its official website.
