Residents of Chechnya warned of possible blood feud after conflict in Rostov Region

The conflict of two Chechen families of farmers in the Rostov Region, in which five persons perished, will lead to blood feud, the residents of Chechnya interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" suggest.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 22, in the Chernozubov farmstead in the Oryol District of the Rostov Region, five people perished and two were wounded during a conflict with shooting of two Chechen families: the Batsievs (natives from Chechnya) and the Dakishvilis (natives from Georgia).

The death of several conflict participants will inevitably lead to blood feud, some residents of Chechnya believe.

"This is definitely blood feud. From the one side, three persons died, and one – from the other family. There is also one unidentified casualty, but this is a separate issue. In any case, the family that has lost its members has the right to blood feud and will try to realize it. There is no doubt about that," Adlan, a resident of Chechnya, told the "Caucasian Knot".

"The conflict of these two families is unlikely to end on this, regardless of who is punished or imprisoned there. If the elders and the authorities fail to intervene and settle the issue peacefully, it will drag on for a long time. Such precedents have already happened. Regardless of who exactly was responsible for the conflict, the family that has lost more members has the right to revenge," said Said-Khusein, a resident of Grozny.
