Father of Ingush activist Khasan Katsiev appeals to human rights defenders for help

During a search, law enforcers presented a search warrant with another address, said a father of Khasan Katsiev, a participant of a March rally in Magas. Magomed Katsiev appealed to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" with a request to protect his family members from persecution of law enforcers.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that on October 15, law enforcers searched a house of Magomed Katsiev.

On April 23, Khasan Katsiev, a member of the Ingush Committee of National Unity, was detained in a case of clashes between protestors and law enforcers at a rally in Magas.

According to Magomed Katsiev, on October 15, he saw near his house about 20 armed people, and many of them were wearing masks. When an investigator was told that the search warrant indicated the address of Khasan Katsiev, and not the address of the activist's father, the investigator made changes to the search warrant by hand and stated that the search would be conducted at the Magomed Katsiev's house.

When conducting the search, the law enforcers wanted to find the missing evidence in the Khasan Katsiev's case, suggested Timur Akiev, the head of the HRC "Memorial" office in Nazran.

Earlier, the father and the advocate of Khasan Katsiev complained that the law enforcers tried to force the activist to plead guilty.
