Muscovites share memories on anniversary of terror act in Guryanov Street

On the anniversary of the explosion of a residential building in Guryanov Street in Moscow, casualties' relatives and friends gathered in the venue of the tragedy to commemorate the victims. Facebook users recollect that they still remember the horror experienced by them 20 years ago.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on September 9, 1999, a terror act was committed in the Moscow residential area, in Guryanov Street. As a result of the explosion, two sections of the nine-story building were completely destroyed. 380 people fell victim to the terror act: 106 people perished, and 264 others received various wounds. According to law enforcers, the terror attack was prepared by Chechen militants.

On September 9, 2019, about 200 people gathered at the site of the blown up house in Guryanov Street. People brought flowers and soft toys to the monument to the victims of the terror act, the "Ekho Moskvy" reported on the same day in its website.

As of 12:38 a.m. Moscow time on September 9, the post about the anniversary of the terror act, placed on the Facebook page of the "Dozhd" (Rain) online channel, gathered 80 comments. The authors of some of them shared their memories about the events of 20 years ago.

"I remember it was very scary. They perished in whole families with toddlers and small children. We went to bed and trembled, thinking that our house may be the next. It was a nightmare," wrote Natalia Novikova.

"The explosion was heard in Lublino ... Who could know then that such an evil had come? So many people perished ... Even now, it's painful and scary to pass by the place," Tatiana Smirnova has noted.
