Gadjiev's wife denied meeting with him at SIZO

Dana Sakieva, the wife of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an editor of the "Chernovik" (Draft), arrested in the case of financing terrorism, who is also his public defender, could not visit her husband at the SIZO (pre-trial prison). Earlier, Ms Sakieva visited her husband for six times; however, the Department for Dagestan for the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as UFSIN) has suddenly treated these visits as a violation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 18, 2019, Abdulmumin Gadjiev was arrested within the case of financing terrorism. He believes his case was falsified. According to Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik", Gadjiev suffered because of his articles on Islamic topics.

The "Chernovik" writes referring the press service of the above UFSIN that at the pre-trial investigation stage, access to a defendant of a person other than an advocate is prohibited.

Let us remind you that rights defenders regard Gadjiev's case as a threat to all journalists in Russia. He was accused under the case of financing terrorism because of his publication on the charity of Israil Akhmednabiyev, who was not suspected of anything illegal at the time of publishing the article, Vyacheslav Feraposhkin, an employee of the HRC "Memorial", has stated; the HRC recognized Gadjiev as a political prisoner.
