Mother of Daniyal Zagirov: SIZO bans doctor's visits to arrested son

Daniyal Zagirov, a resident of Buynaksk, who was arrested together with his three acquaintances on the charge of involvement in the IS*, complains of spasm attacks and headaches, but he does not receive any medical care of high quality, claims the mother of the defendant.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that four residents of the Buynaksk District were detained on suspicion of arms trafficking in October 2018. Samat Tatarkhanov, Daniyal Zagirov, Ramazan Zakaryaev, and Ali Ramazanov are charged with organizing an illegal armed formation (IAF) and possession of weapons by an organized grouping.

On May 23, human rights defenders reported that all four defendants had retracted their confessions and said they had incriminated themselves under torture.

Daniyal Zagirov, who complained of spasm attacks at a SIZO (pre-trial prison), still had health problems. This was reported by the mother of the detainee after she had visited him.

"A doctor was not allowed to visit him. Yesterday [on August 20], I visited my son again, and he complained about permanent headaches. On August 6, he again had an attack [...] They have no medical equipment there, and there are no conditions for appropriate treatment. They only give him painkillers," Zumrut Zagirova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
