Desecration of soldiers' graves outrages residents of Armenia

A female resident of Yerevan ha been detained within the case of desecration of Armenian militaries' graves. Social media users urge to punish vandalism at the cemetery as severely as possible.

A suspect, a 51-year-old resident of Yerevan, was detained, the police press service has reported. She was taken to the police station after a message was received about her strange behaviour in the cemetery. "She said that she was spraying molten candles onto gravestones to remove the damnation," a police source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The video spread in social networks shows a number of similar military burials, splattered and poured over with some black substance. In particular, the faces of soldiers depicted on gravestones turned out to be covered with the substance.

The information about the desecration of burials has caused outrage among social network users. Ervand Varosyan, an advocate, has treated the desecration of the military cemetery as a blow to the Armenian statehood. "This is a challenge to national security; and each of us should help in solving this crime," Arthur Kazinyan, a political analyst, wrote in his Facebook page. Those guilty of desecration should be tried as for committing an especially dangerous act for the society, Narek Galstyan wrote on his Facebook page (as translated from Armenian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent).
