Relatives of detained Derbent residents go on hunger strike

Today, the mothers of the detained Islam Barzukaev and Gasan Kurbanov began a protest rally in Derbent, demanding to release their sons, a Kurbanov's female relative has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 15, relatives of three residents of Derbent appealed to the police with statements about their kidnapping. Later, it turned out that all three were detained within the case of illegal dealing with explosives, weapons and ammunition. Their relatives believe that the case was fabricated; on June 20, they held solo pickets in Derbent demanding the release the detainees.

The mothers of two detainees, Elena Barzukaeva and Shaganaz Kurbanova, announced the start of a hunger strike demanding to release their sons, Zeinab Kurbanova, an aunt of Gasan Kurbanov, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent today.

According to her story, around 9:00 a.m. Moscow time, Elena Barzukaeva came to the Derbent city police department with a poster informing that a hunger strike had been announced, and a photo of her son.
