Organizers praise ConIFA Championship in NKR as one of the best

The European ConIFA (Confederation in Independent Football Associations) Championship is over in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR). The tournament has become one of the best; and one day the NKR will welcome the World Games, Per-Anders Blind, the ConIFA President, has stated. Local residents have actively participated in various events and sought to communicate with footballers, organizers report.

Footballers of South Ossetia won the ConIFA Championship by beating the team of Western Armenia in the final match with the score 1:0.

The European Championship under the auspices of the ConIFA was held in Stepanakert on June 1-9.

The final match South Ossetia and Western Armenia More than ten thousand people came to watch the first place.

Per-Anders Blind has noted that his organization will continue cooperating with the NKR.

"We tried not just to organize a sporting event, our priority was to once again present Artsakh (the historical name of the NKR) to the world, as well as to hold new international tournaments in the future," said Bako Saakyan, President of the NKR.

"Spectators are very happy; they actively take part everywhere. I think that a new generation has grown up, a modern and relaxed one, not wanting to constantly think about war," Arus Gasparyan, an employee of the NKR's Ministry of Culture, has added.

All the hotels participating in the "Hospitable Family" Programme were overcrowded, said Lernik Ovannisyan, the Minister of Culture for Youth and Tourism. According to his story, the number of tourists in the NKR has increased by 32% compared with last year.
