Head of "Musavat" Party demands to check data on reburial of Hadji Murad's remains

Today, Arif Gadjily, the head of the "Musavat" Party, has discovered traces of opening of the grave of Hadji Murad in Azerbaijan and demanded an inspection of this fact.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 30, Magomed Amirkhanov, the chairman of the organizing committee for the burial of Naib's remains, said that the reburial ceremony for Hadji Murad's remains was scheduled for June 2 in the Dagestani village of Khunzakh. On May 31, authorities of the Khunzakh District called this information a fake. However, photo and video testimonies appeared in mass media that the reburial ceremony in Khunzakh really took place.

Hadji Murad, a participant of the liberation struggle of Caucasian mountaineers, was killed in Chechnya in 1852. After the death, his head was cut off by an unknown person.

The grave of Hadji Murad in the Gakh District of Azerbaijan could indeed have been opened, Arif Gadjily, the head of the "Musavat" Party, has stated.

"Today, we've visited the grave of Hadji Murad. The tombstone stands still as before. However, at the side, about one meter from the monument, stone slabs were opened and, apparently, a tunnel was dug from there," Arif Gadjily told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, there is no control or guarding of the grave.

He believes that state bodies of Azerbaijan should conduct an inquiry into this matter. "It is necessary to demand clarification from the customs and frontier authorities on how it was possible to transport the remains across the border. Experts should be sent to the burial place in Gakh District to investigate the situation," Mr Gadjily has stated.
