Elista policemen detained after death of pensioner

In Kalmykia, three policemen are suspected of involvement in the death of a pensioner, and two of them are detained, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports.

According to the MIA, on May 31, a resident of Elista complained to the police that his 65-year-old female relative left home the day before and never returned. Later, the woman's body with signs of violent death was found in the area of the Kegulta town in the Ketchenery District. Meanwhile, the police received information about the involvement of their colleagues in the death of the woman, the Russian MIA reported.

"The information was received on the possible involvement of three district police inspectors of the Russian MIA's Department for the city of Elista in a serious crime against the victim. By present, officers from the criminal investigation department and own security department have detained two of the suspects and brought them to the investigating authorities. The measures have been taken to search for and detain the third suspect," reports Irina Volk, the official representative of the MIA of the Russian Federation, as stated on the MIA's website.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not reported whether the criminal case had been instituted against the suspects.
