Two suspected attackers on supporters of ex-Defence Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh detained

The detainees are suspected of attacking supporters of Samvel Babayan, the former Minister of Defence of Nagorno-Karabakh, and illegal possession of weapons, reported the Investigating Committee of Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 30, the Samvel Babayan's office claimed an armed attack on supporters of the former Minister of Defence of Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the Samvel Babayan's office, the attack could be organized by people from the environment of a possible rival of Samvel Babayan at the future presidential election in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Samvel Babayan announced his intention to run for president at the 2020 election. In February, Araik Arutyunyan, the chairman of the "Free Homeland" Party, the former State Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh, also announced that he would take part in the presidential election.
