Chechen people doubt joy of Akhmat-Yurt residents from renaming of their village

Fellow villagers of Ramzan Kadyrov said that they had long wanted for their village to be renamed as Akhmat-Yurt. They note they are proud that the village of Khosi-Yurt now bears the name of the father of the Chechen leader. Some residents of the republic and users of social networks found the above statements to be demonstrative.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chairman (Speaker) of the Chechen Parliament suggested renaming Tsentaroi, the ancestral village of the current head of the republic, to Akhmat-Yurt - in honour of Akhmat Kadyrov, Ramzan's father. On May 21 it was announced that villagers at the gathering unanimously voted to rename their village after Akhmat Kadyrov.

On May 23, the state-run news agency "Chechnya Today" posted on its YouTube channel the video entitled "Residents of Akhmat-Yurt report how they treat the renaming of their village". In the five-minute video, several fellow villagers of the Chechen leader reported that they had long wanted for their village to be renamed as Akhmat-Yurt.

"This is pride and honour for our village," said in the video a woman from the village, whose statement was translated from the Chechen language by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. In the Russian language, the woman clarified that the issue concerning renaming of the village had been discussed "for 15 years." "I've got a feeling of pride. I'm a happy person," the woman emphasized.

As of 2:27 p.m. Moscow time, the video gained more than 5500 views and 60 comments were posted under it. Authors of some comments doubted the sincerity of the heroes of the story.

"Why didn't you come out for a rally 10 years ago for renaming of your village?" ironically wrote in the Chechen language the user *Black Wolf*.

"And I believe they fear to say that they are unhappy," commented the user "Eto Ya" (It's me).
