Organizer of terror act in Pyatigorsk imprisoned for 15 years
The North-Caucasian District Military Court has sentenced Rustam Ismailov, accused of committing a terror act in Pyatigorsk and preparing an explosion in Stavropol, to 15 years in colony investigators have informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 17, 2018, a car exploded in Pyatigorsk, parked in close proximity to cafés and residential buildings, and wounded 46 people. In October of the same year, three suspects were detained, who, according to investigators, had prepared another terror act.
The above court has sentenced Ismailov to 15 years in a high security colony, besides, to two years of freedom restriction and a fine of 10,000 roubles, an official of the court's press service told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that the verdict has not come into force and may be appealed against.
Rustam Ismailov was convicted under the articles on banditry, a terrorist act, illegal manufacture of firearms and an attempt to commit a terror act. The maximum punishment under these articles is 20 years in prison.
Investigators and the court have established that in December 2009, Rustam Ismailov joined the gang, led by his brother Rafael. On August 15, 2010, the gang members killed a taxi driver, then, committed a terror act in Pyatigorsk, by stuffing the taxi of the killed driver with explosives, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported today in its website.
