Ingush elder urges to refrain from unrests after activists' arrests

In his video message, Akhmed Barakhoev, a co-chairman of the Ingush Council of Teips, who was arrested for 10 days, asked the youth to refrain from illegal actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 3, Akhmed Barakhoev, who was also one of the organizers of the rally in Magas, was arrested for 10 days. Two more protests leaders, Musa Malsagov and Barakh Chemurziev, received the same terms in custody.

According to Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the "Mashr" human rights organization, on April 3, law enforcers searched the houses of about 20 activists, who had participated in the protests.

The March 26 rally against the referendum law turned out into an action demanding the resignation of Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the head of Ingushetia. "We came to the conclusion that there is no trust in him; and his resignation can solve many problems," Malsag Uzhakhov, Chairman of the above Council, has explained.

Let us remind you that the decision to arrest the 65-year-old Akhmed Barakhoev, who on March 27 tried to calm down the protesters, was treated by Facebook users as an act contrary to Ingush customs of honouring the elderly.
