Week of March 25-31 passed without victims of armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week from March 25 to March 31, 2019, no casualties and victims were reported in the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

Raid in Dagestan

On March 29, policemen conducted a raid in the village of Kirovaul, Kizilyurt District of Dagestan. According to local residents, law enforcers went around the households and checked the residents' documents, but did not detain anyone. The raid was carried out within the framework of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime, introduced in the cities of Khasavyurt and Kizilyurt, and in the Kizilyurt District last March.

Law enforcers report detentions of militants' helpers

On March 25, three persons, including Karina's husband, were detained in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan on suspicion of helping Karina Spiridonova, who, according to the authorities, in November 2018 committed a suicide bombing at the checkpoint in Grozny. Components for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found on the detainees. According to the Directorate4 of the Telegram channel, not three, but five persons-members of the "Islamic State", a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, were detained.

On March 27, a native of Dagestan was detained in the Stavropol Territory, who, according to the FSB, had sworn to the IS and planned terror acts. Law enforcers reported that they had found a flag with terrorist symbols and religious literature on him.

On March 28, a female relative of the 42-year-old Omar Abdurashidov stated his kidnapping in the capital of Dagestan. On March 30, law enforcers searched Abdurashidov's house. Sapiyat Magomedova, an advocate, noted that they had found weapons in the house. According to Omar's relatives, they were planted. The court arrested him for 10 days under the terrorism financing case. He himself said that he had been tortured and beaten up with the aim to knock out testimonies against a high-ranking ex-law enforcer.
