Petition against rewarding Armenian officials gathered thousands of signatures

The participants of the protest action held at the building of the Armenian Government have demanded to return the premiums issued to state officials back into the budget. Within 12 days, the letter of demand addressed to the government gathered 12,000 signatures, said Ani Kaginyan, one of the protesters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that governors of a number of Armenia regions gave large monetary awards to their subordinates; and some of regional leaders have awarded themselves.

On February 25, the initiative group named "Tribuna" organized a protest action outside the building of the government, where they continued collecting signatures, launched on February 13 and demanding to return the bonuses received by officials back into the state budget.

Irina Arutyunyan, a participant of the action, has recalled Nikol Pashinyan's speeches, when he was still an oppositionist and criticized the authorities' policy, calling to "tighten belts and save state funds."

Activists have written a letter addressed to the government demanding the return the premiums received by officials. The Department for the Reception of Letters and Consideration of Applications told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the letter was registered according to the law, and an answer thereto should be expected within a month. Activists said they would continue collecting signatures.
