Georgian citizen arrested in Abkhazia on suspicion of espionage

Gia Parulava, suspected of espionage, has been arrested for two months. During a search, a grenade, ammunition and an electric detonator were found on him, the State Security Service (SSS) of Abkhazia has reported.

According to the SSS, the detainee, the 57-year-old Georgian citizen Gia Parulava, is a native of the village of Tsarcha.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2009, the Supreme Court of Abkhazia sentenced Diana Shedaniya (Aseeva), a 40-year-old resident of Sukhumi, to 19 years in prison after finding her guilty of spying for Georgia.
