Chechen authorities explain Minister's words amid new public apologies

There are no plans to create rubrics for public apologies in Chechnya, authorities and television professionals have explained, noting that the words of Minister Djambulat Umarov were misinterpreted. This happened amid new plots with repentances.

A rubric with apologies is an inefficient method of educating the youth, said Akhmed Dudaev, the head of the "Grozny" Chechen TV and Radio Company (ChGTRK), the "Chechnya Today" reports.

An source from the office of the head and government of Chechnya said that that the "Grozny" TV Channel is launching, on the instruction of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, the "Special Talk" rubric, in which residents of the republic "will be able to conduct an open dialogue with the authorities."

In Chechnya, there is no need for an apology rubric, since repentance plots regularly appear on television, local residents said.

Thus, on January 22, the website of the "Grozny" ChGTRK posted two plots about the requests of Chechen residents for help addressed to the head of the republic. The first one tells that "a grandmother asked for help in transporting a sick child to another region", by placing an appeal in the messengers, but this was not necessary.

The second story "Another slander attempt in social networks revealed in Chechnya" tells about an appeal of a woman from the republic to Kadyrov complaining about the Pension Fund. "Explanations on this issue were given to her even before she addressed Kadyrov, but the woman preferred to distract the head of the region from her affairs," said the author of the story, adding that the woman also asked to improve her housing conditions, although she has adult children.
