Video of vandalism in Dagestan points to support in social networks of public punishment practice

Three minor guys, who confessed to vandalism, put in order the memorial "Memory" in the park of the Dagestan city of Kizlyar. Users of social networks have approved the public punishment of the guys, expressing regret that the video failed to show their faces.

According to the administration, at night on January 20, young men aged 16-17 "destroyed the Star of Eternal Fire in the Walk of Fame."

"In social networks, they apologized to the residents of the city and together with their parents put in order the park territory, the monument and the slabs with inscriptions," the website of the administration of Kizlyar has reported.

The video clip has triggered a stormy discussion of social network users, the overwhelming majority of whom considered the practice of public punishment efficient.

"They are probably unaware of how many Dagestanis died in the Great Patriotic War," the subscriber flower_._flower was outraged.

"It's a pity that this is the only way to re-educate our youth. I hope they'll learn to respond for their actions," the user tua_cara_ has noted.

In their turn, some of the commentators have expressed doubt that the residents of Kizlyar are actively visiting this memorial complex.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in January 2018 the police reported the detention of a "teenager from a problem family" who left inscriptions on the memorial to the victims of the militants' attacks on Kizlyar.
