Public employees of Grozny claim being forced to raise money for charity

Employees of budget-funded institutions have to participate in raising money for New Year's gifts for children in the framework of the action organized by a Ramzan Kadyrov's daughter, report residents of Grozny.

The action "Give good together with Aishat!" to buy gifts for children from poor and large families has been initiated by Aishat Kadyrova, a daughter of the Chechen leader, who heads the "Firdaus" Fashion House.

"The essence of the action is to give children a happy mood for the New Year. Children mostly ask Father Frost to bring toys, bicycles, gadgets, sports equipment or clothing, and their wishes are fulfilled," said an official representing the office of the Chechen leader and government of Chechnya.

It is noted that the charity action is held for the second year in a row, and during that time, "thousands of children" have received gifts.

Participation in the charity action is mandatory for managers of all levels, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Salavdiyu, an employee of a public department.

"A public manager is to visit a New Year event where children leave greeting cards with their wishes, choose several of them, and then purchase with own money the things the children ask. Here, everything depends on good luck. It is possible that a person will have to spend a large amount, since children sometimes ask laptops and iPhones," the public employee says.

Children may write "serious requests," complained Magomed, the head of an educational institution. "Children also voice wishes to get a computer or an expensive phone," the teacher explains.

Chechen public employees have to regularly spend their own money for various projects, said the head of a Chechen NGO.
