Participant of "Million Mask March" released from prison under amnesty

Shant Arutyunyan, the leader of the "Tsegakron" Party, who was serving his sentence in the case on the "Marsh of Million Masks", was released from prison after the amnesty announced in Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 5, 2013, the action "Million Mask March" took place in Yerevan, during which protesters clashed with the police. Law enforcers detained 37 people. On October 17, 2014, 12 participants of the action were found guilty of hooliganism and sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. Shant Arutyunyan was sentenced to six years of imprisonment.

Shant Arutyunyan has served five years of his sentence. Today, he has been released under an amnesty from the penal institution "Vardashen", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Shagen Arutyunyan, a son of Shant Arutyunyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by Lusine Martirosyan, the press secretary for the Armenian Ministry of Justice (MoJ), that the amnesty law to affect 6500 people has entered into force today.
