A resident of Armenia sentenced for killing a Russian soldier

Arman Djandjugazyan has been sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment after killing a soldier from the Russian military base in Gyumri, reports today a court official.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 22, 2017, the body of soldier Dmitry Yalpaev with stab wounds was found near the Russian military base in Gyumri. 20-year-old Arman Djandjugazyan was arrested on suspicion of murder.

According to investigators, Arman Djandjugazyan called himself a supporter of the terrorist grouping "Islamic State" banned in Russia by the court. He was charged with unlawful wearing of cold arms and committing a murder on the grounds of national, racial or religious hatred, or religious fanaticism.

Arman Djandjugazyan was sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment, the "Sputnik-Armenia" reports today with reference to an official from the general jurisdiction court for the Shirak District of Armenia.

Gurgen Arutyunyan, an advocate of Arman Djandjugazyan, said that the Court showed excessive severity to his client.

According to the advocate, the issue of appeal will be discussed after the court's decision is received, the "NEWS.am" reports.
