The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the UFC-229 tournament in Las Vegas on October 7, the Dagestani fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated the Irishman Conor McGregor in four rounds, by retaining his champion's belt in the lightweight category. Because of the brawl that broke out in the hall after the fight, penalty sanctions can be applied to Khabib, up to depriving him of the champion title, the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) head has stated. Nurmagomedov apologized for his behaviour.

After his arrival by air in Makhachkala on October 8, Khabib Nurmagomedov immediately went to his fans, who were waiting for him at the "Anji-Arena" Stadium. More than 15,000 fans came to the stadium, the "Interfax" reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Sports of Dagestan.

In his speech, Khabib Nurmagomedov has commented on the brawl after the fight.

"First of all, I wanted to show him (McGregor, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") the difference between our nations. We all know what a great story we have, and what our people have gone through. Nothing will break us. I knew this and wanted to demonstrate it ... Someone says that I did everything right, someone thinks otherwise. And I'll tell you what. Eagles don't belong in the cage," he stated.
