Australian painters present their works for exposition in NKR

The exposition in the city of Shushi, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first Armenian Republic, the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan and the proclamation day of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), presents more than 60 works of the 20 painters from Australia, who have Armenian origin.

The exposition opened on August 31, at the Shushi Arts Centre, on the initiative of the branches of the "Armenian National Educational and Cultural Union" in Australia and in the NKR.

Ermine Avagyan, the head of the Stepanakert branch of the Union, said that "earlier the exposition of Australian painters was held in Yerevan, after which the authors expressed their desire to show their works in Artsakh (the self-name of the NKR, – note of the "Caucasian Knot").

According to Shake Vardanyan, a painter, she is proud that she "could exhibit her works in Armenia and Artsakh."

"For the painters from the Armenian Diaspora, the opportunity to show their works in their historical homeland is one of the main events in life. Unfortunately, not all the painters were able to come, but I'm sure that I and my colleagues will have a chance to come to Armenia and Artsakh," Ms Vardanyan told the "Caucasian Knot".

The exposition will last until September 4.
