In Armenia, son of Syunik Region Governor wanted

Tigran Khachatryan has been put on the wanted list. According to investigators, he forged documents to avoid military service, when his father Surik Khachatryan was the Governor of the Syunik Region in Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by a press officer of the Investigating Committee of Armenia that Tigran Khachatryan passed a military commission in the town of Goris. He bought and later used a document with a medical diagnosis of "neurasthenia" and "moderately pronounced neurasthenia," which did not correspond to his health condition.

Based on the above diagnosis, in 2014, Tigran Khachatryan twice got a postponement from the military service for five months and then for three years.

In 2014, Surik Khachatryan was elected the Governor of the Syunik Region, and he held the post until 2013. In September 2014, he was re-appointed as the Governor. In October 2016, he submitted a letter of resignation, which was granted by the Armenian parliament.

Tigran Khachatryan is charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

"Investigators failed to find out the whereabouts of Tigran Khachatryan, and (he) was put on the wanted list," noted an official from the Investigating Committee.
