Tourists report 13-hour lines on border between Russia and Georgia

At the "Verkhny Lars" checkpoint, travelers have to stay in a line for more than 10 hours, the Department for North Ossetia of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) reports today. In social networks, tourists note that officials underestimate the problem on the border between Russia and Georgia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 10, the MfE reported about 10-hour lines at the "Verkhny Lars" checkpoint. Car travelers complained in social networks that they had to stand for hours on neutral territory between Russia and Georgia.

As of 7:00 a.m. Moscow time, the Georgian Military Road operates in normal mode. However, tourists have to wait for more than 10 hours in lines at the checkpoint, reports today the website of the MfE's Chief Department for North Ossetia.

The line at the border reaches 13 hours, report users of the social network "VKontakte" on the community page "Situation at the 'Verkhny Lars' checkpoint".

"We arrived from Russia yesterday, and we reached the line at 4:30 p.m. After 11 hours spent in the line, we left the Georgian side. There is a huge line on the neutral section in direction to Russia. But things are even worse from the direction of Russia," Mikhail Drynkin writes today.

"That's tremendous. We spend our 13th hour in the line, and we cannot see the border yet," Denis Golenko writes today in response to a question about the situation on the way out of Georgia to Russia.
