Azerbaijan claims shelling of its positions in three villages

Over the past day, the positions of the Azerbaijani army have been shelled 95 times in the areas bordering with Armenia, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) reports today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 31, Azerbaijan claimed shelling of its positions in six villages.

"Units of the Armenian armed forces used large-calibre machine guns and 95 times violated the ceasefire regime in different directions of the front during the day (on July 31-August 1)," the Azerbaijani MoD reports today on its website.

According to the Azerbaijani MoD, the positions of the Azerbaijani army were shelled in the villages of Bala Jafarli in the Gazakh District, Kokhanebi in the Tovuz District, and Garaveliler in the Gadabay District.

By 9:20 a.m. Moscow time of today, the official websites for the Ministries of Defence for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not yet released any comments on the statement voiced by the Azerbaijani MoD. On July 28, Nagorno-Karabakh reported 300 cases of shelling in the conflict zone during the week of July 22-28.
